COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course will provide the general techniques and skills to start the student off as an Entry Level Soldering Assembler. This course is designed to expose the student to the broad aspects, fundamental concepts and principals of electronic assembly up to the point of completing a PC board. Successful completion of this training will afford the student eligibility for an Entry-Level full-time position.

COURSE OBJECTIVES, GOALS, DELIVERABLES

• Identify explain and demonstrate Safe use of tools and equipment common to a job sight

• Identify explain the many aspects and stages of skills required to assemble component onto PC Board/Electronic assembly.

• Demonstrate basic interpretation of technical prints or plans and explain assembly processes.

• Focus on basic safety standard for electronic assembly

• Review basic terms  (mathematical functions, decimal-fraction conversion and basic geometry)

This course will allow you to experience “hands-on” instruction on proper and safe use of hand and power tools.  

The focus is on basic safety standards for construction (mathematical functions, decimal-fraction conversion and basic geometry), reading a tape measure and blueprint reading.Trainees will learn to review drawing plans to determine materials and fasteners needed.

Topics include floor systems, wall systems, basic stair layout, doors and door hardware, drywall finishing, suspended ceiling, trim (window, floor & ceiling) and cabinet installation.

For those that qualify, there is also a “Working Internship” built into this training course for working with local businesses in the area.

The new Basic Metal Fabrication course will provide 250 hours of evening (5:30 pm – 9:15 pm) instruction and practice Monday through Friday over 14 consecutive weeks. 

Graduates of the training will be job- and career-ready and have entry-level metal fabricator skills that are necessary to secure employment in the metal fabrication industry. 

Students will progress from basic blueprint reading and industry math to fundamental A.I.S.C. fitting practices for a variety of metal shapes. This course includes safety for fabricators and an introduction to hand and power tools. 

Students will develop knowledge for working safely within the industry standards, and recognize and avoid potential hazards. 

Students will also safely work with oxy-fuel and hand-held plasma cutters for cutting steel and incorporate thermal cutting processes. 

Through instruction and practice, students will be able to use basic layout and measuring tools effectively to prepare main members for cutting and fit-up. 

Additionally, metal fabrication students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the basic AWS welding symbols and various electrodes and their applications, and will also be learning and practicing tack welding techniques and procedures. 

Students will be introduced to industry-related structures and processes and discover requirements to qualify as a metal fabricator. 

Metal fabrication training includes 50% classroom and 50% shop time. Passing written and hands-on skills exams are necessary to graduate.

Introduction to Arc Welding is an 18 week/455-hour course designed to provide the entry-level welder with the skills necessary to secure employment in the welding industry. 

This course is NOW part-time running for 18 weeks completing 455 hours. Course will run Mon- Fri from 8:00am to 1:30pm with a 30-minute break halfway. 

We are thrilled to announce that in addition to the basic skill set of the STICK and Flux-Cored techniques, MIG & TIG are two more processes that have been added to the curriculum!
